Made it out to the 21 fathom line (Fingers) around noon. Had a late start from LI - not feasible to get a 2yo up at 4am.

Fished the Fingers until about 3:30....NOTHING. Saw more life inside of 30NM than I did out 45+. Ran into huge schools of stingray about 35NM out and a ton of baitfish. Not sure if I should have started trolling at that point but oh well. Water temp ranged from the high 71's at the Fingers to 73 about 35NM out. No real breaks. The water was definitely clearer out at the Fingers.

Ran one of Skinny's B/W mini bars (looks great in the spread)on the flat , dolphin colored cedar chain on the flats, metallic green skirted scooped head with a hoo. and a blue/pink bullet. NOTHING!!

Had a GREAT day on the water even with out fish. Got to spend time with my dad and see a lot of sea life. biggrin.gif

Tight lines,

Scott

Thanks for the report. Sorry it was slow out there for you, but like you said - just nice to be on the water. biggrin.gif

We held off thinking the wind and seas were going to pick up (per the forcast) but I watched the buoy at the Cigar all day showing 2.6 waves and winds less than 10 kts. I was kicking myself...................Maybe next weekend if this new storm passes?

I think the fingers are around 50 miles from Rudy. So if you are leaving from Lynhaven, you probably need to add a few.

If I remember right - it was 47NM from LI. Took us 1.75 hours to get out (Stopped to investigate things on the way out) and just under 1.5 to get back. The seas were great. It was point the boat were you wanted to go, sit back, and enjoy the ride.

Inside the Tower and around CH was the worst part. We were able to cruise back to LI at around 37-39mph in our 290 Coastal.

Scott,
Glad you got a good boat ride, quality time with family, and a pretty day on the water. The fish just need to get with the program!
Tight lines.
Dave
