Made it out to the 21 fathom line (Fingers) around noon. Had a late start from LI - not feasible to get a 2yo up at 4am.

Fished the Fingers until about 3:30....NOTHING. Saw more life inside of 30NM than I did out 45+. Ran into huge schools of stingray about 35NM out and a ton of baitfish. Not sure if I should have started trolling at that point but oh well. Water temp ranged from the high 71's at the Fingers to 73 about 35NM out. No real breaks. The water was definitely clearer out at the Fingers.

Ran one of Skinny's B/W mini bars (looks great in the spread)on the flat , dolphin colored cedar chain on the flats, metallic green skirted scooped head with a hoo. and a blue/pink bullet. NOTHING!!

Had a GREAT day on the water even with out fish. Got to spend time with my dad and see a lot of sea life.

Scott, on my last tuna trip we saw huge schools of rays as well, and every time we saw them we'd hook a tuna or two a few seconds later. I think the tuna follow the rays because of the outstanding fishing I've had whenever they appear. Give it a shot next time you see them. You will probably get lucky!
