New to board, New to offshore fishing and wanted some
input on what everyones take on the Garmin Mapsource Bluechart
software is.

I have the handheld Garmin etrex Legend Cx and with
the Metroguide software it is excellent.

The questions I have are do most people just use the GPS
coordinates and mark any good spots found along the way
or do the Bluecharts details and accuracy allow you to mark
and navigate without inputting alot of information.

Other question is with the latest Bluechart software do you
find it to be up to date with the information for wrecks, bouys,
and shoals.

Thanks.

The garmin with the Blue Chart Cartography is really precise. I have found it to be right on with depth, location, buoys, wrecks and so on. I only have a few marks on my Garmin for quick route plots when running offshore to specific locations like Canyon, Hot dog, Cigar, 10Fathom Hump, Fingers.... Not much more I can say about that.....great product, easy to use.....Bob

I have both the Garmin and Raymarine sounder/plotter on my boat. The Garmin Blue Chart is very precise. My opion, cartography on the Gearmin is unbeatable, however as an overall unit, I like the Raymarine. I agree with Bob, very easy to use. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. Now if we can just convince Garmin to
expand the unlock region to include the lower Chesapeake Bay
to South Florida.

If you have a map capable GPS, you have to get the software. You need all that area?
