Hit the 3/4 Islands for Flounder...two drifts and only a couple of bites. The we hit the rocks to cast fors Stripers...couple of hits on chuggers but no pullage. While fishing for striper, my son (8 yrs old) says he wants to clean the fish if we get one. I figure this is the moment to make a complete fisherman out of the boy. To Lynnhaven inlet we go to catch something he can clean. Only takes about 15-20 minutes to catch a few spot and away we go. At home he grabs the fillet knife and fillets a few spot (not the best fillets but for an 8 yr old doing spot...its pretty damn good). He takes them in and batters them up....BAM, into the frying pan and eats. Not bad at all. An 8 yr old goes from hook to belly. A great day indeed.

My hat's off to the kid! He figures that if he cleans the fish, he'll get to go fishing more often. Bright guy!

Adding to his accomplishments, he cleaned the boat by himself (I hit the stuff he missed after he went to bed). I think he was desperate after going a week and a half without wetting a line. The kid is non-stop fishing. Gotta love it!!!

Great Stuff Brettk, My boy deer hunts/cleans deer (Bow/smoke pole/shotgun) but doesn't much care for fishing.

My daughter however, loves fishing but won't help clean.

Boat is always mine to clean.
