Well after reading the multiple citation Red reports, I couldn't stand it, had to take a day off work for that! We left out of Rudee @ 6:30, quickly caught some small croaker, spot, and even a few small bluefish. Dropped the hammer on the outboard in 1-2' nothing waves with a 5 knot SW breeze and headed towards The lumps. Set up two live baits and 4 cut baits and settled in. Water temp was 71°F and clarity looked like 4 foot or so (pretty good for inshore). Nothing after an hour, pulled up baits and moved closer inshore to the sandbridge pier area. Water temp was 72-73°F. After 2 hours we picked up a total of two sharks and a ray but zero reds. We decided to at least get some fish in the box for dinner so we pulled up and headed out to the Tiger wreck. Waves were picking up in the afternoon perhaps 3 foot with a steady 15 knot SW wind. Water was beautiful clear, temp right at 70°F. Saw some False albacore busting up here and there, but they would go down long before you could get there. Caught some decent sea bass, triggerfish, and even a couple of nice sized spadefish (didn't think they would still be around). Did not see any AJ's or Cobia on the wreck. Packed it in around 4pm, ran the bouy's all the way in for Cobia, no life not even bouy jacks. Back on the trailer by 5.
Another beautiful day... unfortunately no big reds, still beat the heck out of work!

Sorry you didn't get your reds, but at least you got to take home some tasty fish. Nothing like sea bass for me and my boys love triggers...
Sounds like a good day to me, too!

Was down there as well and didn't do anything. A guy told me the offshore wind drives them out, who knows. Saw the Megabite, nice talking to you. Pretty day.

No kidding, I couldn't believe how many of the fish we caught were tagged. BTW, this was the first time we had caught tagged fish. I have the info... what is the reward?
they send u the info on when the fish was tagged and where and its size, also who tagged it. they will typically give u a hat or shirt or pin with that info. the shirts are awesome. hopefully u left the tags in the fish that u did not keep (that way they keep getting data). if not, try to do so in the future.

DP,
Thanks for the post. I had a similar illness that caused me to miss work yesterday.......I saw Healthy Grin's post on TidalFish with some huge JC's at the Tower & I had to get out there. No luck for us either. I was wondering if my luck would have been better for Reds at SB but sounds like nowhere was hot yesterday. Still a nice day on the water................
