Launched out of Back River, Made it to the highrise @ 7:00 pm. Light chop, almost slick, a quick ride out by all accounts. Winds SW, perhaps 5 knots. Water temp at the bridge was consistent @ 59.7°F regardless of where we were. No real current going and the water level looked as though the tide had already ran-out. We were a little disheartened at this but we decided to try ayways. Started throwing my secret bait (plastic shad, some secret) to the pilings with no luck. Picked up after 15 minutes and hauled over to the 4th island. There is a spot around there that some of you may know, man- it has produced for me time and time again. gotta love it. Anyways, the tide was still slow and we started casting again. Four casts, four fish 29, 34, 34, 32. It kept on going like that from about 7:45 to around 8:30 or so. There were a couple of fish that were pushing 35 but we couldn't seem to get any bigger than that. Anyways, the current then started to pick up and for some reason, we were invaded by slot size fish, couldn't catch the larger fish at all! We limited out in short order, definately prefer keeping the smaller fish, and then let the rest of them go. We left the fish still biting around 10:30pm and headed home, in bed by midnight (no too bleary eyed today, and my thumbs all tore up too!). Peak outgoing current was around 9ish so if you're up for some late night action, be there tonight or tommorrow around 8-9 and it should be good thru midnight. Catch-em up...
