Hello All, I am new to the board and just wanted to let you know some of our history & of some plans we have for some striper fishin'. I live in Kansas City, Mo and have for the last 13 years due to work. I was raised on the Chesapeake while growing up the son of a successful contractor in NoVA in the 70s and 80s who adores his sportfisherman boats (43ft Egg Harbor & a sistership, and 40ft Post). He kept them at Calvert marina near Solomons Island. We did alot of trolling near the TARGETS and elsewhere in the mid-bay and have caught so many citation blues, striper and red drum. He is now retired and lives on the 40ft Egg Harbor SEA FOX at Bluewater Marine in Hamptons Sunset Creek. I am flying into town Friday to visit Pop and stay with him for about 10 days or so and we are looking to do some serious striper fishing. Last year we had a good system. We would chunk with bunker at the HRBT on the incoming tide and do the same thing on the outgoing at the M & M. Man were we ever successful. Looking to do the same this year and just wanted to let you all know that I am taking alot of what I am learning here and applynig it with dad since he is relatively new to this area and its different fishing potential and was hoping we would run into some familiar folks from the board. Look for us and give a shout.
PS=Where can we get some fresh menhaden? All we seem to be able to get from Amorys is the frozen but is the fresh stuff really that much better? smilie_flagge13.gif

Welcome,

I am sure that fresh is always better, however, living in Newport News, I haven't been able to find any fresh stuff.

I was using frozen menhaden yesterday afternoon chunking the incoming tide at the HRBT and was kept pretty busy with just 2 poles out.

Good luck

Welcome!! I know that Long Bay Pointe has fresh, but its on the other side of the water from where you'll be...I'm not sure of any places over in Hampton that may have fresh.

Good luck to you and Catch 'em up!!
