Went out today (Sunday, 11/19) to the Triangle Wrecks for Blue Fin. No luck on the Blue Fins. The only action was drift fishing over the wrecks for flounder and big blue fish. Trolled a variety of baits around the wrecks and struck out. Saw some False Albacore jumping and a couple of schools of blue fish. Some reports of Bonita being caught, but most of the talk on the radio was consistent with how we were doing. Did not see much around the CLT as we headed out.

when drift fishing over the wrecks, do u fish the same way as drift fishing in the bay with the same rigs, seems to me u would get hung up?

You do get hung up because you are trying to keep the baits on the bottom for flounder. It's not different than fishing an inshore wreck or the tunnel tubes.

I've always kept the engine running and a man at the helm when drift fishing a wreck, especially since the drifts tend to be short. If someone gets hung up, you can back up real quick to free him up without a prolonged disturbance to the other fishermen in the boat. In the bay sometimes I'll kill the engine and try for a much longer drift. Tight lines.
