just got a call.. my buddy went out of ruddie today in his bosses 34'er.. they were heading to the nc line and hit afloating piling going 27knots.. killed one deisel.. limped it home havent heard the outcome but they made it back in.. now this really opens my eyes.. i head out of LC at night and im going 30-40mph.. til i get to the second. makes you think twice about that 15-20 min run.. Be careful out there guys.. and with this blow im hoping to have enough time to repower my trophy... decided on a 115 merc 4 stroke.. just seems to be the best financial choice..

I had a log bump into my boat when I was anchored the other night. I never go over 15kts at night......

I hit a floating tree up a river a couple years back. it was really foggy. Good thing was that I was only going about 10-15 mph and it didn't do any damage.
Definitely be careful at night or when there is limited visability.

Speaking of this weather for the next few days, where do you guys get your reports? Some buddies of mine and I were suppose to go out Sat for some rockfish (was gonna be my first time!) but the captain called canceling. I had been looking at weather.com and thought the system was going to pass quickly. Anyway, a bit bummed about the trip, but would like to be looking at better weather reports if I can. Thanks!!

Your captain is a wise man. I fished saturday only because we were in a tournament - otherwise I would not have been out there. The morning was very rough and we were beat to death. Never in danger, but just not fun.
