hey guys, pretty new to saltwater fishing and was looking at taking the boat out on sunday out to the islands at CBBT. Since i havnt had the chance to fish around here much and am pretty new to saltwater fishing i was wondering if you guys think Sunday would be a good day to go. Air temps are supose to be high of 55 which is a big cool down from today but winds should be light and maybe a slight overcast day. I was just wondering how this 30degree drop in temp is going to effect the fishing. were going after stripper but would be happy with anything that bites. sorry for askin the newbie questions, just lookin for some input. thanks guys and tight lines! sport-smiley-027.gif

Depending on what kind of boat you have, you might want to wait and see what the bay looks like on Sunday. Right now, it looks like it might be a little iffy. This cold front might bring in the hogs.... I hope anyways....

thats what were hoping for too. i dont have a chance to go out much and this might be the last time this year to go so hopefully we'll make a run out there. not sure how much change in water temp there will be in only 2 days but if it brings in the big ones then ill be even more happy. as long as i catch some ill be happy though regardless of size. not looking at rain right now for sunday and winds about 8 or 9 mph. Its a 19ft center so should be alright.

I think the way the Tunas are still around were going to have another late breaking season. The water is still pretty warm for this time of year.Usually the Hawgs show up when the water temps are 49 to 45 degrees.

you think this cool down is going to slow the bite down much?
also anyone know where to get some fresh eel at?

fishing4.gif I plan on going out sunday as long as the wind is not over the predicted 10-15 and waves are only around the 2-3 ft. mark. My boat is a 198 DLX Carolina Skiff. Trolling speed is about top speed for me any way in a N, NE wind like that . She gets mighty bumpy sometimes, but catching the fish makes it all worthwhile! Needless to say, Dramamine is my constant fishing partner! I will be dragging various crankbaits and tsnami shad bodies on a 3 way rig. Good luck to all that go out sunday !

The only stupid questions, are the ones that are not asked!!!!!!! I believe you
learn a little from everybody, there is usually a trick that someone uses that
may seem insegnificant, but can turn out to be a cool tip..Bad as I hate to say it,
I`ve been fishing 50+ yrs.,and didn`t think of the heated hook on cold days.
It`s gotta make things easier. This is an example of what I mean. Good Luck,
and full coolers to you. As for Sunday, if it`s fishable, go for it!!, you can`t
catch`em with the boat on the trailer..

I'm a 51 year old high school teacher/angler and I agree that newcomers to the board should always feel free to ask the most basic questions. Speaking for myself, I enjoy relearning old ideas as well as new ones. Quite often, what someone considers a simple question is something that I have forgottern to try for awhile. An observant person will see and learn new things every day.

I'll be out fishing the Dare Marina on Saturday and will be out again on Sunday. Call out for the MacBeth and we'll tell you what we're up to. Good luck
