First big score for team REELAX was the fm99 tourney.
We departed around 2 am hoping to do a repeat of the fish we scored on tuesday. We began behind the second near the wreck the Big D. We scored tons of small stripers using 5 inch "Finn S" in the speckel'd trout colors... I think these are hot now because the specks are starting to migrate. We rigged two in tandem with 1/4 ounce jig heads. The rig looks like a 3 way but it is all tied in fluro. We probably caught around 30 or so but we only kept one from there. Around 3:30 we set up behind the 3rd island to get out of the wind. We anchored near the rocks and deployed the hydro glo stick. It's basically a 4 ft long waterproof green lightbulb it illuminates the water all around the boat and draws baitfish. I have had some success with it but can not say it is due to the light. We had zero success with it last night. At daybreak we worked the rocks around the 3rd and 4th again nada no luck. Around 11 or so we decided to make a run and set up the ocean trolling spread all big baits. We had success there we landed a 47 1/2 inch 35 lb'r.
Then we realized we may be in the running we scrambled to land two more fish just to add some points. We ran back to the bridge frantically trying to land some schoolies. No luck and time short we hauled ass back to Taylors.
Turns out we won the "Lunker" award as well as 1st place with only 2 out of a possible 4 fish submitted. Not a bad day for Team REELAX.

Way to go REELAX. We put in at Cobbs ramp and then found out that my starter had died. We put the boat back on the trailer and went to Brownings starter, battery, and alternater. We got there at 8:30 but they did not open until 9. They took us in at 8:40. They reconditioned my starter in about 1 hour and 40 minutes and we went back to the ramp. We were about 3 hours behind schedule and in a hurry to get on the water. We did not get a line in until 11:15. We only had about 2 hours of fishing time if we were to make the weigh in. If you ever need alternator or starter work I would highly recommend BROWNINGS.
