I've just bought all the rods and reels I need so now I'm looking for some lures for specks, striper, flounder, anything. I've heard of lots of baits but I can't decide on colors and size. Some lures I'm looking at are Yozuri, MirroLures, spoons, daisy chains, stretchs. Sorry for not being more specific with my request, but all I want to know is what types, colors, and sizes of lures that worked the best for you. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks. help.gif

Stripper trolling.

Cant go wrong with stretch 25's. Blue and chrome, red-white, chart. That is what I would start with anyway. Consider a Mojo rig also.

For specks, your best bet is lead headed jigs with lots of different colored tails in your box. Different days, different colors. This year, electric chicken has been hot, but chartueuse, green, and the white/hot pink colors have produced well too. Also, carry an assortment of mirrorlures in the 52 M or TT series. Again, different colors produce on different days. The 52M11 (red head and white body) is in everybody's tackle box and has been for a long time so start there.
Getaway
Narrow your request down to one type of fishing and you should get lots of replies. It would take too long and space to try and provide lures for all types of fishing in a single post. The list for rockfish alone would be extensive. Post several requests, one for each type fishing you intend to do.

"Its no use if it ain't chartruse" and "Red and white is alright" come to mind with striper lures...mojos, stretches, bucktails. Silver spoons and gold spoons seem to produce the best for me. Menhaden colored Storm Wild Eye Shads from 6"-9" are a must in my tackle box for stripers.

Flounder, best is probably cut squid or live bait on a standard 3-way bottom rig with or without bucktail skirt or on a fish-finder rig.

Fishist covered the specks.

Good luck!!

For stipers I would have to advise you get an asortment of storms in the 9inch if you are planning on trilling in the ocean and 4-6" for the bay. Also get yourself some umbrella rigs. The regular ones or the Maryland style are both great. When you get to your mojo section start with the 12oz and work your way up to 42oz. Chartreuse is the number one color on any lure that I mention.
When it comes to the specks I basically throw softplastics. 4" saltwater assasins have brought me a quite a few limits this year. Most of thie time I am fishing in slow moving water so I stick to 1/4 oz heads. For some reason the round heads have been a little better. I have also found that the paddle tails produced better than the twister tails. (FOR ME) There is another great lure for the specks that is my go to bait when the blues are mixed in. Thats the Strike King 3X strond mud minnow. It comes in two colors pearl, and chartreuse with a pearl stomach. I also throw this for the flounder under lesner and the HRBT at night. The bluefish dont tear it up on the first bite thats what makes it so good. I hope that helps a little.... Mirro lures produce at times too but I personally don't like them. I have seen to many big specks throw the hook. The final straw for me was me wading in the surf and having a nice sized speck throw it at my face. Not fun.
