That's poor form to take that many fish, you would have a hard time eating that many. I'm not sure if that's pretty work? Hope you were legal?

I don't see anything wrong with taking a legal bag of fish. I personally eat fish and will keep my limit everytime I go if I am fortunate enough to catch one. I can honestly say that 21 rockfish that are 20-25" will not give a huge amount of meat, 3 good sized tuna will blow that amount out of the water!!! What I do not like is people questioning someone for keeping their legal limit. Those Menhaden boats are killing more rockfish than we could ever catch! So go bag on those guys!! Nice catch man, eat em up....try Drakes mix, it's a great breader from up north, fries up nice and golden brown!!

5 x 2 =10 (day one)
3x2 =6 (day two)
10 + 6 does note equal 21.
Did I miss something? I would suggest being careful and knowing what the limits are. Ignorance of the law is no excuse if you are inspected. A couple of small schoolie striper filets are not worth the fines. More importantly, the resource should be protected so that we all can enjoy it for many years to come, and then our kids after us. I'll get off my soap box....

YOu done good buddy...everybody on here likes to keep their limit of Rockfish (it's only 2 per person).....that's a nice mess of fish and tks for sharing your fishing experience with us. Don't let this thread run you away...it really happens less here than on some of the other boards...Keep those reports coming.....Good job....bob

I agree 100% with Bob. I think watching those menhaden boats rape everything in sight has us all on the defensive. Your followup posts were fairly clear on the number of days and anglers to took to make your catch. And a pretty catch it was. Good work. And your opinion is just as valued as anyone elses, so please continue the reports! Good luck and tight lines.

Keep posting!!! We're all sensitive about our stripers. When people see a picture with a lot of fish, they start doing the math. I was told there would be no math, so just explain a little more in your posts(as you did very well in the folllow-up posts)...but KEEP POSTING!!
These are the bad guys out there....

TLowe,
Welcome aboard, thanks for the post on JRB and a good job - I have been asked what spinniing gear works best for them and I didn't know what to tell them since I use a flyrod for them, blue over white clouser or black over blue size 1/0, some other patterns work but those are the main ones. Now I can tell those guys what spinning gear to use Thanks
Were the fish healthy, we got some Monday that were covered with lesions.
Please keep posting.

My bad. I didn't realize you meant two boats same night. I was never good at math anyway. I have no prob. whatsoever with keeping a limit of fish, I do it often (when I'm lucky enough to catch one). Didn't mean to jump on you--my criticism was intended to educate (which obviously you didn't need) and hopefully prevent trouble with the man. Please accept my apologies and welcome to the board.
Tight lines,

well since i was the first to post something that drew attention to the number of fish i guess i need to apologize. It was a nice catch. Just so you know i keep my full limit. I hope you stick around this forum. I just joined and have to tell you these guys are not here to critisize. On a lighter note, bet next time you post you will state exactly how many people were fishing and show exactly who caught what. Anyway, that was a joke.. Hope to see your limits on here as often as you get out.

A lot of people were confused because the word night is down next to one of the pictures. TLowe, keep catching fish, keeping your limit, and posting. I think you will find that this board is extremely friendly (except when folks think someone is doing something to threaten a resource). There was a lot of misunderstanding about the post and maybe we shouldn't have jumped to conclusions but asked ???'s instead. Stick around and enjoy.

Nice work. I love catching those guys on light tackle, however you should head out to Cape Henry one of these days and go after the big ones. We have been consistently been catching 30+" fish (largest so far 40") using light tackle (6" Storms) and trolling Stretch 25s and Mojos. Your 18' boat should be fine, mine is only 17' (really 16'7") and I have no problems as long as I pick my days. Hopefully headed out there tomorrow. Welcome to the board.

After the 1st you can still fish the ocean until May. Last year I was catching fish until the end of Feb. I fish days with a SW or W wind, perfect conditions for smaller boats. Launch out of Lynnhaven and its a short ride to the oceanfront. Rudee works also espcially when the fish are more south, false Cape etc.

My mistake. It is until March 31st and then the trophy season starts on May 1st. Sorry, must of been wishful thinking.
