I'm a new member to this site. I will be going to obx the day after xmas for a week. Just wondering if the fishing is slow how far ride on land is to rudee inlet?I do alot of fishing in the upper chesapeake . This will be my time taking the boat to obx.Was hoping for better fishing reports after talking to people that fished down there last year. Thinking about trailering the boat up north for a day. Bringing all trolling gear and casting gear.If rudee inlet is to far are there any other recomendations on where to go.Any info. would be great.
Thank you, Nick Remesch 26' grady
EARLYTIMES
OI inlet to Rudee Inlet is 2-1/2 hours by truck. You will need to put in at Owls Creek Boat Ramp for Rudee. It is south of the inlet on General Booth Blvd about 1-1/2 miles.

OI StripersIf your going to be at OBX, your best bet is to put in OI and fish the ocean side of the bridge or the south side of the channel just past the southside jetty (there is a shoal around there). Follow the inshore charters and you'll probably find the fish. They're still around down there.

If you plan on fishing in N.C. on or after January the 1st, you will need to purchase a state of N.C. fishig license. This is a new lic. requirement eff. 01-01-07.

Thanks for info. . It looks like rudee inlet may be a little far.We are definitely going to try OI the first day and see what we can catch. We may go up to Corolla area
and try that . Do you know if there are any ramps up there and if so where? Hopefully more fish will move south by next week. Some of the reports I've been reading seem to say the shoals can be pretty dangerous. Are they all this way.If fishing the ocean side of the bridge what would be the best way to fish and where abouts.I really appreciate all the help. I will only be fishing through new years eve but thanks for the info.
Thanks , fishing4.gif Beat Nick
RECOVERY
Welcome beatnick, you'll get alot of great info from the people on this site!!
If its to rough to get out the inlet theirs the ocean side of the bridge as mentioned also the Manto bridge by Pirates Cove But if you can clear the inlet I'd just troll
north depending on condition and fish the false cape or come up as far as you want. We've gone from Rudee to past Corolla in a 26ft.
Good luck and tight lines. fishing4.gif fishing4.gif
There is a short cut to bridge to the left of the 2nd or 3rd markers the channel
is marked by white 55gal drums,But its constantly changeing and if unsure just follow someone out the first time.
