is there a limit on NC tilefish???? if so, what is it. i looked at the NCDMF website and the way i read it, it looks like there is a limit of 5/person, but the reports i have seen, the charters are keeping alot more than that...........just asking before i or someone on here gets caught unaware........

Not sure, but sometimes charter captains can purchase commercial lic. that allow them to keep more fish to sell to the commercial market. I'd keep checking into it so you don't get caught with more then you should have.

When we went out this past fall there was a limit of 5 per person. The charter boat kept track of the number of fish and we stopped when we hit 5 per person (plus a few sea bass and grouper). Because we limited early, they went to a wreck on the way back in and we got a mess of triggerfish as well. I got the impression that if the tuna had been closer, they would have considered trolling for tuna.

I would make sure you stick to the published limits and check with the captain on what your options are if you limit early.
