Sorry for our confusion.....
We are heading out Sat and are somewhat confused.

If we launch at Lynhaven and go to the concrete ships and release, then fish in the coastal area and return to Lynnhaven, would we be legal if we keep fish from the coastal area even though we are riding through Lynhaven?

My concern is how would be prove where we caught the fish.

Good question. I'm unsure as well. Do you have to put in at Rudee to fish keepers? Can you simply not have any on board past the demarcation line?

I heard something about none on board with lures in the water west of the line.

I tried to look it up on the VA Marine Resources website; to no avail.

How does it work? Apologies, I'm just an idiot.

Great question, Snookie.

That's my understanding as well.

You can travel back through the bay but you can't fish at all while doing so.

You CAN catch fish in the ocean and then go through the bay to recover your boat at lynhaven or whereever. If you have fish on the boat - DON"T even look like you want to fish in the bay. No lines in the water and someone suggested removing the lures from your line. I don't even slow down once in the bay - it's wide open until I hit the entrance to the marina.

Donna Sea is absolutely correct. You can't give the impression that you may fish

Sorry folks, but they have to have proof of any violation. It's a law enforcement matter, not a coin toss. Sure, there are some big damned binoculars in that low block building by the lighthouse, but if you are legal, you are legal. Don't sweat it.
Now, if you want to loiter inside because that's where the birds are and then power out past the line with your fish in tow, you're going to get nabbed.
