Came out of Rudee at 7:15, thinking of the southern run. We saw a squadron of boats off 31st street, so we went north instead and decided to make scan through the fleet. Seeing nice bait balls we put out the spread and hooked up on 3 - one going 43 inches. That bite died off and we wandered inshore into 26 feet of water and got 3 more off the wooden pier -16th street. I noticed our strike pattern developing a string to the south, so guessing the fish and bait were moving in that direction, we moved south of the Inlet off of Dam Neck.
I was constantly being bothered by the cockpit crew whining and moaning about the cold and the wind. Wimps. I, of course, was sitting in the heated helm station (70 degrees) and drinking hot black coffee. Finally, in desperation to get rid of them, I charged a 16 oz stryofoam cup with Bicardi's Gold and gave it to them, which Randy and Rob promptly chugged, agreed to return to the pit and then they caught 2 more including another very heavy 43 incher.
Seriously, Randy worked his ass off all day to get our fish.
So our tally was 8 stripers, one captain's mast and one dead Bicardi.

Any one going tomorrow -- way south seemed very quiet. Most boats I heard on the radio had to work their way back north to catch fish.
Worth noting.

Oh man, I've done that so many times I lost count. That old axiom "never leave fish to find fish" never fails to haunt me. Something I am trying to do, is have a plan, but be willing to "audible" at the mouth of the Inlet if there is a chance for something else. I have trouble getting fixated on "a plan" and not being patient enough to let things fall in place.I do it all the time offshore. I am trying to improve on that weakness.

Thanks for the report,I worked on updating the electronics in the Salon this weekend. The TV & Sterio were from the early 90,s so I put a Satellite Radio,Am/fm receiver, DVD and a 20" Flat Screen. The old girl is getting a face lift.

Nice job Kent. I was on Billable Ours and we saw this sweet tide rip that was holding bait...like Dave said, we learned a great lesson. Did manage 3 fish, 2 shorts and one 34" all caught on the Marlin Maniac chartruse umbrella.
EARLYTIMES
Beef jerky and straight Bacardi will catch fish every time!
Mega Bite
I thought it was cold Chunky Beef Stew straight out the can that did it.
EARLYTIMES
Yeah, that does it too, we just didn't have any. How's that new TV look in the salon?? New porn DVD's next??
Mega Bite
The TV is hidden in a cabnet that is why I got the 20 inch screen,no porn but I am going to get a collection of Fishing with Dr.Wright videos.
