EARLYTIMES
Feb 10 2007, 07:23 PM
Started at 7:30 fished east side of Rudee, not bites. Went North looking at the sounder no bait. Went down to one mile North of the state line, saw bait, no bites. Fished there for 5 hours, no takers, no bites. We knew with the water temperature at 41 degrees the fish had moved outside the three mile limit, but we chose to obey regulations on this day. Zero for zero on the fish. Called it quits at 3:30. Went to the bar. Looking back in handsight, my girlfriend Dawn was not on the boat, no split tails, no fish!

You were not alone on the poor day. The only ones that caught good amounts were illegal. Heard the man poped 20 boats 12 miles east of Ship Shoal. 3 boats fishing that same spot flew under the radar and came back to Rudee with multiple papers. Doesn't mean much to me though if its unlawful. Tomorrows a new day with a new charter...we will see.

Great update guys. Someone told me that 48 degrees was the temp they moved out deeper but looks like something under 43/44 might be the answer.
I am with Bob, records/paper caught the wrong way don't mean much to me.

My Mate has has it right - No runs, No hits, No errors.
Went down to refuel Water Dog today. They were coming back with lots of fish or NO fish. The "lots of fish" boat allowed that they may have "fudged" a little. Also have a report from a wreck fisherman, coming back inshore--some hives 9 to 11 miles offshore. The water temp-- about two degrees higher. They are still at this latitude, but now seeking the warmer deeper water. I think this week's cold snap pushed them out. Randy and I marked tons on bait yesterday, so there is still plenty of forage. The temp is the issue.
Bob, man thanks for trying to help us. I always like fishing with you. I afraid your mate Ottter can easily be bought however. When we mentioned we wre cooking hot sauages I though he was coming through the radio. He may be a lady-of-the-night for a little hot food or alcohol. I noticed a similar reaction last year in Hatteras, when I offered him a beer.

Hey Ot, Dave's sending his boat to get some work done as well pretty soon, so I'll be out and about too...the "Dynamic Mate Duo" roaming the docks could be dangerous. If there's no fishing we'll have to practice are "shot" skills!! Tequilla for this mate!!

NOTICE TO MARINERS:
I apologize to the rest of the fishing world for creating this unfortunate coincidence of timing, having Don and Otter available together...Geeez.
