All the commercial boats have been loaded to the hilt with Croakers the past few days.My dock partner had well over 12,000 lbs of them .He also had 500 Trout. I dont think they are hitting yet but they are here for sure.

With this break in the weather 70 plus degrees

for the next week or so should trigger a spawn

in most of the game fish species. Trout and Stripers should start flooding the tributaries (coming/returning to sea) , look for awesome fishing in Owls Creek, Lynhaven, and James and Elizabeth Rivers and the back bay sections of Sandbridge within 1-2 weeks.

Watch for mega schools of (Frye) minnows, bluefish, spot, and croakers inside the protection of the tributaries over the next 3 weeks, definite sign of moms and dads in the area returning to sea. Flounder should start moving off of their deep water holes and come inland (near shore) very soon. Red Fish reports are becoming more and more constant daily down south of here so the move should be soon. There are two large break offs (Gulfstream) of 72-78 degree water churning northward off the mid-cost of the Carolinas which will push fish to us as well. I think if the weather holds temps in the 62-68 degree area for 10-18 days this year will see some super early fishing, the past couple of years have been slower than usual, so keep your fingers crossed. Good luck all.

Yeah right off the beach a couple days ago, you could see the netted fish being pulled into the boat. I thought it was bunker, guess not. Haven't caught anything in Rudee yet.

Don, they've been pulling nets full of croaker and trout in close to the beach for a while. This morning I watched a boat pull his net just out past the bar, and it was full. He did another set in the same spot and was back at noon pulling it again. Same thing, it was full. weather or not those fish will bite depends on the water temp. There's a ton of surfers out today, but I may give it a shot tomorrow.
