Jaws, the photo is kind of small for a positive ID, but it appears to me to be a hake or pollock. Either would be a strange catch this far south. Where did you catch it?

Watch it George...you're Polish too!!

Oh...Pollock!
Did it have a chin barbel?? Shallow-forked tail?? If no barbel and shallow forked tail, I'd say Silver Hake...aka Whiting...according to Vic Dunaway.

Unfortunately, we didn't bring a good camera with us, so we had to use my phone for the picture.
We caught two of them on the Santore wreck, just to the west of the Chesapeake Light Tower yesterday afternoon. This was the smaller one. The bigger one was about 24".
What are the regulations on them?
After googling Pollock, it was definitely one of those.
Thanks for your help Marlin Maniac.

That's a pollock.
Interesting to see that they are this far south. I would have never guessed after spending the last three years fishing the Gulf of Maine and catching a fair number of them up there.
They are darn good eating... sometimes called poor man's lobster. Very tasty in fish chowder. Also used to make that immitation 'crab' meat.
No regs here that I know of. In the Gulf of Maine, there is no bag limit for fish over (either 18" or 20", I can't rememeber), under, that, you can keep up to six.
