Start looking for them in late july or more like august and september when the water gets really warm. They will show around the tower wreck and along the bouys out to the tower. Also a good showing off sandbridge. Fish live baits and drone spoons in a slow troll. or chum them up to live bunker. Va isnt a great Kingfish local but they are really fun (and difficult) to boat.

Live bait is best, drifted over wrecks. You can also slow troll but I like the engines off. I can't give out my live bait secrets. (well maybe I could show you ) There is an easy way to do it.
September is best. July August and October are ok too.
Use a wire leader because they will shred mono. I make my own because you want to use 40 lb wire or lighter. They spook with that piano wire they sell on the pre made rigs.
Invest in a haywire ez twist and a roll of wire leader, hooks etc and you can make alot of leaders.
I use a capt hank hookup on the front because it gives you a little weight and keeps the bait from spinning if you slow troll. But you don't need it. Just make sure hooks are sharp because they crash the bait and if you miss them they usually don't come back.
It's great fishing. Good sized fish on light tackle.
