Fished out of OI with Owen and Ryan (TripleThreat) on Owen's Cat. The Gulf Stream was about 40 miles out (SE) and there was a 25 degree temp break - went from 45 degrees to 70 degrees. You could feel the difference in the air temp as soon as you entered the stream. In a 4 hour period, we caught and released 4 Blue Fin just short of being legal and had multiple knock downs. Everything was on blue and white green and yellow mini spreader bars. It was Ryan's first trip to the gulf stream and first tuna!!! He did it all - hooked up the hoo, put the spreader bar out, reeled the tuna in. He also just bought a new 25' HydraSport CC which he is taking delivery on this coming week.

The wind started picking up in the afternoon, but it was a beautiful day on the water. Other boats out of OI seemed to have a good day also.

The Marine Police were at the Marina checking for NC fishing license's.

It took me 30 minutes to get one to the boat. There were times when it looked like the fish was going to win.

There were lots of fish out there - we could have caught more if we could have got them in the boat faster.

Very nice. Did you keep your 1 schoolie BFT for sushi? In NC only, you can keep one schoolie until 15 Apr 07.

We did not know that. Wish we had - it would have been nice to bring some fresh tuna home.

Owen, just want to thank you for the invite. Had a blast with you and Charlie out there. You guys were great, taught me a lot and got me on my first TUNA. Most importantly, you got me hooked and I cant wait to get out there again.

Hopefully the new boat will be ready this week, and I'll be able to take you guys out soon.

Thanks again

Ryan
