First I want to thank Conch 27 for the advice on where to go on sat. You were right on the money and I sincerely thank you. I hope to fish with you one day. I also want to thank Dave Reed of Eye Catcher Lures out of Buxton. He made a custom spread for me and man did it work! bow.gif Give the man a call because his stuff works.

Went to the 280 Rocks sat morning on my virgin tuna trip on my new Grady. I have never caught a tuna from ANY boat let alone mine. After 2 hrs of fishing a red/white cedar plug on the outrigger goes off. 40# yellow fin in the box!!!! To say the least... I'm fired up! Then two rods go off, I get a 20# fish ready to gaff and he takes off when he sees the boat... line wrapped around the end of the rod... good bye. Other fish has ran through the spread on the first run and is wrapped in the spreader bar. We get to see the fish and he looks like twice the fish of my 40#. Takes off on a second run around the spreader bar... he too breaks the line.

We then land a 20# yft a few minutes later. Then four rods go off and quickly the line goes limp and ALL 4 baits are gone! (This trip is starting to get expensive!) I put out a Dave Reed special on wire for wahoo and turn back through where we got bit off. 3 minutes later... 30# wahoo!!! Heck we are hollaring and jumping up and down like and 8 yr old on Christmas morning! As you can tell I've never done this on my boat before except for dolphin so we were excited.

Then it got crazy. All of a sudden about a 100# bluefin is airborn 5' high 30' from the back of my boat with my Dave Reed teaser in his mouth! He comes back two more times in the air putting on a show like I have never seen. We could not get him to bite but the show he put on was worth the trip if we had not caught a thing.

I have fished all over the world and bowhunted all over the US , but yesterday was about as exciting as anything I've done. Hopefully I'm going back Thursday!!!

Good luck to all.

Oh Jason --you are in trouble now!!! A day like that will start an addiction that's worse than crack and more expensive!! Congrats --a great story.

Listen to Gradyman, he is wise. It starts out small, you'll take a half day off here and there. Need new lures? You just put it on the credit card. Next thing you know you're on the side of the Interstate picking aluminum cans for gas money and hanging at the Lynnhaven Blvd. exit on 264 holding a cardboard sign that says "Will work for Ballyhoo". It's not pretty.....Welcome to the club. biggrin.gif Nice job Jason. Glad to hear of a good day offshore. Tight lines.
