Fished Hatteras Friday 4/5. Brisk west wind of 15-20 knots gave us 4 to 6 ft seas in the edge of the Stream. We used a big spread of bars witn 0 results. Changed everthing out and got a 45 lb yft at 11:30. Hour later- a nice 6 ft wahoo that went 35 lbs. 90 minutes later we hooked another one - who promptly charged the boat and PASSED us going by at about 12 knots. Randy and I saw it go by -- streaming our red and black Islander and a bright red trail of blood that looked like red smoke!! We chased him down and got him in the boat and he was as mad as hell. Missed another good strike about an hour later.
Tunas were tough to find and every charterboat was looking for them. Better wahoo action than last year.Bring wire you're going to need it.
Sat. we woke up to 40 knots no way to fish the raging wind, so that was the end of it. Randy will post photos.

Don,

We may look at next weekend to. We will watch the reports this week with you.
I think a few more tunas were caught on the south 850 line. We fished the Rock Pile and the lumps about 6 miles south of the Rock Pile.
A boat at Teach's went north to the 450 line (below the Point) and had 4 yft, but no size to them.
The wahoo's were best where we were (we didn't know anything, just lucked into it) and as usual, they were hitting red and black consistently.
I heard the charters complaining of bite-offs, so you will need to wire them up, esp. on anything red and black.

You are right, Keith. They are fun to catch!

We should have pull off the tuna stuff and really got after the wahoo's, I think we could have got 2 or 3 more. We had 75 pounds of meat any way, so how much can youeat? We fished along side Bob on Fin Seeker. When we see the Mega Bite going thru the Inlet?

I go to Capps the 10th then I go to the Fishing Center at Rudee.I am going to stay in Va. this year.I might trailer the Small Bite down there for a few days.Be careful down there a buddy of mine ran his Boat aground hard last week."The Island Girl " is a Hatteras, the Dredge Barge moved the channel markers and watched him slam a shoal doing 17 knots. He has to replace Shafts and Props not sure about the Struts but that will cost a small fortune Im sure.I havent talked to him yet this is second hand info but the general story is correct.
