For you swordfish experts out there. When selecting a location to fish, is it important to fish on or near a temp break or is structure more important? Would it be fruitless to try a place like the Norfolk Canyon now when it's 50 degrees and no warm water breaks in site? Or is it better to wait for an eddie to push in concentrating the bait?

I think temp and structure do play an important role but i think being able to have the weather to fish at night is more important to start off with. Then key in on depth and temp remember SF typically like it deep 80 fathoms at the very minimum and i would say temp would be the least important they feed mainly on squid and squid are routinely caught in 42 degree water and many SF are caught off of Georges bank in 40 degree water temps i am no SF expert but i have a friend in Hatteras who is running a lot of SF trips on overnighters and having success and he has given me some info. Look him up Capt Scott Warren on the Big Tahuna he docks at Teachs. M
