Plan was to fish around the hrbt but the water was murky and a little sloppier than I wanted to mess with so I only made a couple casts. Went into Willoughby bay and drift fished with a tt chartreuse mirrorlure. Caught blues every forth or fifth cast up til around 4:30pm then it turned into the dead sea. Fish were caught in the southwest side of the bay. Not a big fan of blues but catching is catching. Public ramp was packed but in and out wasn't bad, just the parade of non towing vehicles through the parking lot. Marine patrol was checking coolers and hanging around. Friendly enough and wished me luck when I launched. Beautiful day to be on the water.

Tight lines.

Nice job Mike, way to go bro! Sounds like a good fun day! Sunday, the father and I went to rudee inlet and caught some blues, shad, and dad lost a really nice speckled trout...He picked him up out of the water and he shook off into the water, but oh well, cant get em all the time...saw a few trout at 23'' and a 19 1/2'' flounder...It was some action down at Rudee, it all lasted till about 12:00pm. After that, you couldnt catch a cold if you tried. Anyways, may give it another go at it this coming Sunday. Thanks for the report Mike, it was a beautiful weekend. Nice work,
tight lines,

Hahaha, I dont know, apparently he needs a few more tips from his son action-smiley-025.gif (dad, if you see this im just kidding! You were the one that taught me the basics.) biggrin.gif I dont know though, I guess that trout had other plans instead of going on a tasty samich party-smiley-028.gif
Mike, I dont know much about catching drum down at sandbridge, if you were targeting them on a boat, I could give you all the info you needed! But I have wet a line in the surf down there and most of the time I used a regualr bottom rig with floresent beads to give it some color.....To catch bluefish, croaker, spot, etc...If you are going to target drum, there are some guys on here that im sure would be glad to help you out....I've fished for them in Hatteras and I use an 8/0 Gamakatsu circle hook, rigged up on a fish finder rig...Dont matter what you use for weight as long as it stays on bottom...Choice for bait, I used chunks of menhaden, croaker, spot, spot heads, mullet, etc....Im pretty sure thats how you would fish for them down at Sandbridge, but im sure some of the guys on here will fill you in on the info.....Might want to rig up a spoon for casting as well, never know what may be lurking out there....Hope you catch em up man, take care, tight lines,

we surf fish sandbridge in the summer, mainly just crocker and spot and very rarely a flonder, the problem from what i have been told is that sandbridge every few years trucks in sand to widen the beach killing off the sandcrabs and such, so some years its better than others. but it is a nice place to fish, meaning no crowds and such.
