Jburkes,

I live in Prince George, and my bud and I fish all of the types of fish you were inquireing about. Spades you can catch at the Chesapeke light tower, or the CBBT. Other places also, but we fish for them there With Clam for bait. I could go on and type a book, but if your looking to go out and learn diffrent places to go, The next time we have a slot open I'll let you know! Best of luck to you, and if you have further Questions, I can try and answer some of them.Tight Lines and the best of luck! fishing2.gif

smile.gif Keep your eye open for guest speakers at club meeting, or at places like Boaters World. The one on Laskin Rd. is having a good one this Thurs. on puppy's and specks. They often have some of the best speaker/demos in the area. Also, meet and greets are a good place. Often there are demos at all of them. Probably one of the best ways is to HO (can I still say this) censored2.gif for someone who is going. Nothing beats hands on.

J, I'm in Colonial Heights and knew nothing about fishing the bay last year this time. I just gathered up my gear and headed out about a dozen times. At first I stayed around the MMBT then slowly made my way out to HRBT then to Thimble Shoals. By the end of the summer, I was at the CBBT looking for places to fish on the depth sounder. Just keep your eyes on the weather patterns.

Take some time and read through the MANY pages on this site concerning bait/technique/gear/locations. I spent about 8 hours one Saturday reading and marking places in my chart book. It really paid off. Remember, the questions you have, have probably been asked before and you're more likely to get a more detailed answer if you search for that specific question.

Good Luck!

One of the best things get a chart book when people start talking about places look them up if they aren`t there ask . Sometimes poeple wont say but most of the time they might pm you if they dont want thousands of people knowing. As was said try to ho go to a few m n g get to people lips losen after a few drinks.

TIDEWATER FISHING by Skip Miller is an excellent book on fishing all of the bay species. He gives you a lot of information and a few stories to keep it fun.
The best way to learn is by trial and error; in other words, get out there! fishing2.gif

I'm with ya Danny, I have all ready told Sue (my Wife, #1 Mate, Fishing Bud) we need to tow the boat to hatterus. 3 0r 4 day weekend. thats my plan.
I have heard OI is very dangerous. I am sure I need to go out of there about 5 times with someone else before I try it with my boat.
I lived at Key West for 3 yr's when I was a kid. we had a boat before we had a place to stay.Boat parked at hotel. Gulf streem there is 1 mile out, well use to be if not now. I was hooked back then. OH YEA, WE ARE GOING TO THE BLUE WATER.

Thanks again, hope to meet you sometime.

Yea Jdog....OI is rough!!! my bud went out there Sunday and was encountering 12-14 waves going out in his 25Ft Trophy! sport-smiley-027.gif He also got stuck on the sanbar on the way back in! he did catch a 75Lb yellowfin and a 50Lb also. He broke 5 others off before getin' em to the boat! best bet is to follow someone who knows the inlet! it is trecherous! Tight lines, and I'll be on the lookout for you next time I'm out. I'll let you know! Take Care!
