my dad is coming to visit from ohio may 9 thru the 18. we usually go out and catch stripers on top water. which i am sure we will still do i mentioned the posibility of big bull reds and black drum and he is really excited i want to get him into them. i figure i will have to make a trip or two before he gets down to try to figure the drum out.
where would the best place to start fishing for them be?
how deep of water to set up in?
do you chum for them?
is there some where you can score bait in bulk?
i figure i should take a few diferent kinds of bait sea clams blue crab peeler crab fresh menhaden blue fish what is the best bait and how much of it do you typically take per trip? \
what time is best to fish for them day or night?
thanks

Sea clam and crab. Or Sea clam or Crab. Hook a quartered crab in the nuckle, then you can rubber band the crab legs to the line and use the rubber band to also hold the clam on. That is called the crab/clam sandwich.
Use a 8/0 circle hook, anchor out at the 9ft shoals, 13 bouy, you will se the boats.
Just stand by, as soon as the first drums start biting, the board will light up with post.

You will have to ask someone else, I know where to go in May, but not April. I guess Im lazy and just go after they start catching them at the 13 can and 9ft.
