Gave the drum a break this week and have been fishing for rockfish around the tubes the last few days. Limiting out has been easy - nearly every drop produced a fish. Caught too many to count - fish ranged 20"-32" with the majority 23"-27." Bait was live croaker on a 3 way with 2 oz of weight fished on the bottom.
My 11 year old had a blast when I took him out yesterday. We caught fish every drop until we ran out of bait. We were even keeping dead croaker on the hook and jigging them - the rocks didn't care!
Now for the exciting part - as I was reeling in one, I saw something follow him up. At first I thought it was a shark, but as it got to the surface, I saw it was Mr. Brown! Wasn't big, maybe 35", but it was definitely a cobia.
