Gave the drum a break this week and have been fishing for rockfish around the tubes the last few days. Limiting out has been easy - nearly every drop produced a fish. Caught too many to count - fish ranged 20"-32" with the majority 23"-27." Bait was live croaker on a 3 way with 2 oz of weight fished on the bottom.

My 11 year old had a blast when I took him out yesterday. We caught fish every drop until we ran out of bait. We were even keeping dead croaker on the hook and jigging them - the rocks didn't care!

Now for the exciting part - as I was reeling in one, I saw something follow him up. At first I thought it was a shark, but as it got to the surface, I saw it was Mr. Brown! Wasn't big, maybe 35", but it was definitely a cobia.

Thanks for the report. I'm gonna give the rockfish a try with live bait this afternoon before I set up for drum.

Great report.

Seems like the schoolies are everywere. Glad to here some bigguns are getting hooked.

Might try the rock on my way out for Drum on Sund.

Many of the smaller rocks were croaker choked - the croakers would lodge in their throats and miss the hook altogether. What a PITA...
