Left Lynnhaven about 4:30 PM and headed out to first island. Several undersize flounder on the bay side, all of which would have been legal last year. Ran into a big school of medium croaker around the small boat channel. A lot of fun on light tackle. Near sunset headed back up to 1st island. After dark the striper turned on. Picked up a 30" and 35" on a gray windcheater. It was quite a standoff on light tackle. Heading back out tonight if the winds permit.

Were you on the bay side of the small boat channel when catching the croaker?

Yes. From the bridge out a couple hundred yards.
Next night ran into the school about a quarter mile off the south end of the first island, also on bay side.
