Hatteras is the closest fishing grounds from land. Not many schoolies right now, only big bulls.

The schoolies will show up in HI in June and be there the rest of summer.

I was reading an aritcle on the Tidal fish website about the Lobster Balls, wondering how far out those lie, if anyone could help with the location or areas to find em'.

I've never seen any lobster pots off of HI. When the bailers show up, they can be found almost anywhere.

Only lobster buoys I have seen recently are the ones in the norfolk canyon. Their are some long line buoys that move around out of OI depending where the fish are. Not sure about hatteras. The buoys mentioned above are really far out though. Look for floating objects or weed lines. The bailers will be their. also good idea to have tester chunks ready. Drive up to the weed or floater and let it fly. You should know quickly if anyone is home. Bailers can be caught within site of land in hatteras and damn close out of OI.

I've caught bailers 100 yards past the sea bouy at HI trying for Spanish Mackeral.

There were dolphin caught 9 miles out of OI Saturday. Warm water has really pushed in.

Look for weeds, floating debris, etc and the chances mahi are around are pretty good. Bail with squid, chunked up ballyhoo, bonita belly, bucktails, just about anything. Troll lures or skirts in blue/white, greens, pinks, yellows. Dolphin will hit just about anything. Good luck!!
