Fished from the 680 to 710 and got 3 yft 25# , 40# and 50#. Had one pull off had a wahoo bite me off at the boat and alot of short bites frm wahoo. Charters slayed them but we were happy. I saw Billable Hours out there (I was the only Grady out there) and called him on Ch 1 but didn't reach him. Billable has a Beautiful boat!!!
On a bad note, we got to the fishing center to find out they were out of ballyhoo. I like getting it there because I really like the Bionic brand. Anyway the guy behind the counter was rather rude when he told us they were out , but they were getting 300 cases later that day. So I go back outside to unhook my boat and trek up to NH to get bait when and older fellow that worked there overheard us talking. He said" We have 6 cases of bait, how many bags do you want ?" I said 3 and he pulled out a case and gave me 3 bags and threw the case on his shoulder to put inside the store and I went inside behind him to pay. All of a sudden the guy behind the counter explodes into a tirade about selling me the bait. He said I could't buy the bait that it wasn't for sale and I had to give it back and gave the old fellow helping me alot of grief. Half the fleet had already gone so they had their bait already. It was 5:20am by now and the rest of the boats were pulling out.
I can respect the fact the charters get served 1st, but this guy was plain mean about it and if he had bait he should have sold it to us. Last week he sold me ballyhoo and a knife and ice and some coffee and he didn't mind one bit taking my money. Man we drove down from Mechanicsville, bought diesel, dinner, a room at Nags Head Inn, food for lunch ice ect... all in NC. I know I don't have a 60 ' Viking docked at OIFC, but I don't think being treated as a second class citizen was deserving in this case.
You are warned... buy your bait before you get to OIFC so you won't have the same problem.
