im fishing offshore out of hatteras on 2/16 , looking for a good idea of where to start fishing

follow the charter boats out. If its still dark make sure to have your radar on because they have a tendancy to turn off lights when they have leaches.

Hot spots to try out of Hatteras are the Rock Pile, 230 Rocks, 280 Rocks. But like Jason said, follow the fleet and get some meat.

If you have or get a marine chart for the area they all show the rock pile but head out around 230 as previously noted. Once you hit the blue water anywhere from about 17 miles on, you are in range for most anything. From there it is all about what you want to specifically target. Lots of the members here run out of the area regularly. Keeps tabs on page and you will see people talking about their upcoming trips. Most are usually very helpful and willing to help out and will probably keep up with you on the radio through the day if you are in range of each other.
