During the time live eels are prohibited for Rockfeeshin', can you still use them to go after Cobia , Drum and other large fish? If so what happens when you do hook a Rock from by catch? And if you truly are Cobia fishing using eels and the man comes up on ya, how do legitimize you are not targeting Rock?

Yup during the Spring trophy season you not supposed to use live eels to fish for stripers. Since I may be fishing for several species at the CBBT, including Stripers, I was looking for some clarification on the regs. At this point though I have not been able to find any place to get live eels in that area. Gigalot, look like from your fishing pictures, nice fish by the way, you fish that area a good bit. Got any ideas where I might find live eels? I fish out of the Lower Potomac where I live and this will my first trip to the CBBT. Me and a group of guys rented a cottage on the East River in Mobjacy Bay for Memorial day weekend, we will be bringing two boats and hope to fish the entire area over the 4 day weekend. Gonna be going after Cobia(if they have shown up yet), and Drum. Wouldn't mind hitting on some Tog either. It is rare that these fish find thier way up my way. Got any advice?

What are you talking about that is all we use at the CBBT for Rock in the spring is eels! I have never heard of such a thing.

This is the code section for VA and no where in it does it say what bait you can or can not use for Rockfish. Where did you hear that. I also just called a friend of mine who is a chater capt and he said there is no such law in va. He said you can not use eels in the spring in the potomac river and areas managed by the PRFC. But that does not apply to reg VA waters.

That's the info I was looking for, Potomac river and MD regs prohibit live eels during trophy season. I was just checking to make sure that didn't apply in VA. Thanks Guys!!
