We arrived at Huntington at 645 am Saturday. The launch was a madhouse. Between the RV/trailer combos taking up a lot of parking spots, the POS non starting boats taking up dock space, and the people that load their boats with their junk, IN the water, we finally got wet at around 8am.
Started bottom bouncing under the JRB. Nothing. We then headed over to Hampton bar. 2 really small 8" flounder and about 2 dozen 4-6" croakers. Took the croakers out to Thimble Shoals Light. Drifted in a super light current up to Horseshoe. Caught 3 Flounder in the 12-18" in range. Tossed them back.
Dude was in a Parker anchored off the Light Tower catching small spades and talking to the guys doing Rehab work on the light.
We ran out of bait so we left TSL at lunch. Shot over to Willy Spit/Bank. THAT PLACE IS LOADED WITH CROAKER. Must have caught 200 fish between 3 guys in 90 minutes. Kept the 4" for more bait. Ran back up to the TSL/ Horseshoe drift. Caught 2 more short flatties then ran over to Ft Monroe. Nada.
Probably need a few more weeks befor the larger fish move in.
Headed back in catching 250 fish and none in the ice chest. Oh well, What a beautiful day on the water...
Randy.
