Had Jason aboard today,we ran 62 miles South .The water was 42 Deg. and clear blue, seas were a little tight in the Am but calmed nicely by 10 am.We spotted the Oregon Inlet fleet about 2 miles offshore underneath a canopy of Gannets. The screen was covered up from top to bottom. We put out our baits and had continuous fish on for several hours,we had the livewell full with our limit of Striper, not the huge ones but nice and fat 36 to 40 inchers. That school went beyond the 3 mile limit since we had fish in the boat we rode inshore where we found a large school of even nicer fish. Here is the kicker,on a singel daisy chain of bucktails Jason reeled up 9 Striper at one time,I wouldnt have believed it if I hadent seen it with my own peeps.Yes,I said 9 Fish, the rig was 12 feet long so we couldnt get a good picture. That my friends is a once in a life time happening. The ride home was nice and my arm burns just the way I like it.After a month of bad weather we finally got some pullage.

Keith, that sounds like a day well spent. I spent mine knocking another hole in the ground. My hats off to Jason on the nine-in-one. We used to do that with Mackerel up in Maine when I was younger, but never with striper. That is A_W_E_S_O_M_E.

Sounds great! Gets the old blood pumping. You make it sound so good I even got up a sea forecast only to find things are going to be a tad too choppy for my boat. I'm going to keep an eye on things and slip away as soon as conditions permit... Thanks for the report!

Man that sounds like a blast!!! 9 at a time--that's not fishin'--that's catchin' I love that sweet soreness in the forearms--just wish I could experience it more often. Wish I had a bigger boat to get out there (some people have "two-foot-itis"--I've got six-foot-itis--oh well, maybe next season....Post some pics if you can.
Nice work Jason&Keith,

After looking at the Tracks on my plotter the school was actually 60 Miles South the school moved about 3 miles to the northwest as the day went on.

Great report, glad to hear someone has had some pullage lately. I would of really liked to see Jason reeling in all those fish at once. Can't wait till they start moving back up this way so I can get out there. I don't have the gas tank to get that far.

What a great report. Sure wish I could have seen the string of 9 fish coming in.
Thinking of trailering the boat down to Oregon inlet if the weather cooperates on Monday. I've heard it can be rough getting out through the inlet. I've never been there before. Any suggestions about getting in and out?

Your only safe option is to follow a 6 packer out of the Inlet.Put your chart plotter in a mode where it can track your way back in.Its easy to loose sight of the fleet when your hooked up.

Runnig the inlet in my opion is not the hard part .The trip from the bridge to the ramp is interesting to say the least.
The following is the course I use.
leaveing the ramp and stay close to the red shapes too the junction where you will see a plastic drum to your port steer port to the line of 55 gal drums . Follow these drums staying off approx20 feet.W hen you come to the sharp bend that will steer you towards the bridge. the water is shallow and this area changes weekly go to the bridge thats where the water is . Stay 30 feet off the bridge heading south you will pick up the can just north of the bridge channel. When you go through the bridge stay way south of the red bouy you will have good nav aids from this point on. Also recomend as did megabite you take it real slow the first 10 times and find a local to follow.

The public ramp is next to the marina you can follow a charterboat out the entire way.The sand bars change after every storm.I follow the fleet out of the place every time.all you have to do is be ready when the fleet leaves at 0 Dark thirty.

This report is a little late, but I was out in the middle of the OI fleet on the 15th. We were south towards Rodanthe. I have never seen so many fish rolling on the surface! ThHere were fatties everywhere and the gannets were having a feast. We caught over 120 fish. Most of them were in the mid 20's. I got lucky and got a 42 pounder and a 32 pounder!
