In the event that the weather conditions are favorable I think I'll be taking the G-Spot offshore (fingers/Canyon) in search of tuna. If anyone else is planning on playing hookie from work please let me know as I'd like to buddy up if possible.

Hi, I am leaving out of Little Creek Thursday morning around 4 am. I will buddy up if you like. Was planning to start at the 22 fathom fingers and fish south to the cigar. John

Yea it figures....I've been keeping an eye on it myself and hoping things will improve. I may be Cobia fishing inshore instead. Still hoping for a Tuna trip but things aren't looking good for a boat my size. I'll make the final call late on Wed.
Looking at next Tue. for next offshore opportunity if the weather on Thur. does not make an offshore trip possible. Damn, I need a bigger boat!

BTW, as I recall the fingers should be around 50-55 miles offshore.

Best I recall the fingers are around 55 miles out so there and back you'll be running 120 miles or so depending on where you leave from. Figure on 6 or 7 hours trolling at around 6 mph and you are looking at putting another 35-40 miles on your boat. Grand total somewhere around 160 miles. If you're continue out to the Norfolk Canyon you can figure on an additional 25-30.
For a full day from Little Creek to the Canyon and home my boat uses around 85 Gallons of gas but it's a very light boat with a 225 four stroke so it gets very good mpg. The tank will hold 120gal. Hope to see you out there when the weather forecast is better.

Hi, Yes the fingers is about 50 miles out, the noaa buoy is about 55 miles out which is at the northern end of the cigar. The weather report and the wind forecast is not looking good at all. They are calling for 5-7 foot seas and sustained winds offshore at about 25 kts. Saturday really looks like the best day...

My boat holds 165 gals of fuel, but I have a 8.1 volvo penta at about 425 horsepower, so it burns some fuel. I would say I will probably burn 120 gals of fuel.

Anyway, we'll try to hook up again.... John

John,
Considering tomorrows forecast I've already decided that will not be seeing any blue water action unless I get an invite for a ride out on a 40'+ boat. I'll probably have the family out for some bay fishing over the weekend so my next attempt at a offshore trip will most likely be Tue.
Sat. does look very good though...Go Get 'em!
,Jim
