Here's the report:

The first annual Forum Sea Bass trip started out promptly at 2 am from the docks at LBP aboard the Jil Carrie. As we settled in and entered open waters, we encountered frigid conditions and rough seas--but spirits were high. It was so cold that the salt water splashing onboard would freeze. The cabin, however, was warm, esp. for those bundled in sleeping bags for the 6 hour journey to the first wreck.

We arrived at the first wreck and immediately began catching fish. Our first fish were a couple of nice (4 lb range) knot-head sea bass. Then the dog shark barrage began. (I personally claimed the title of "shark slayer", as it seemed all I could catch for the first several hours was dog shark). Some of us had better luck and kept several nice keeper sea bass. We then moved to the second wreck and had more of the same--several keeper sea bass, but a barrage of sharks again made the fishing for sea bass difficult. We hit our third wreck early afternoon and had better luck. An occasional shark, but mostly sea bass with an occ. 4+ lb'er, and some monstrous (in size and ugliness) conger eels. We were pretty exhausted by 3:30, so turned for home. The trip back was much calmer and we were at the dock about 8:30.

To sum it up, we had a great time of comradery, plenty of pullage, adventure, and some dinner to boot. I think it was a success, but I'll wait from some of the other guys to chime in. Capt. Jim has the pics, and I'll post em as soom as he e-mails them to me. We all appreciated Capt. Jim's enthusiasm and endurance and first mate Justin's great work.

Looking forward to doing it again next year.

Sounds better than my day doing my taxes! I'll take rough seas and sea sickness over the Feds any day!

Wish I could physically stand that kind of trip. It's fun to get together as a group. Catching fish makes it even better.....even if there are a lot of critters mixed in!

Looking forward to the pictures!

I'm happy it turned out well!! Congrats to NJ1 for taking the initiative to set this up....
