A perfect day offshore. Slick calm seas, beautiful weather and a good bite - but the tuners really whipped our butts.

Went 2 for 6 on YFT, 2/2 on mahi and numerous hard knockdowns. Started near the canyon tip at 6:30 and worked east for a bit, then turned south and worked the south wall between 50-100F. Water was 71.5. Around 8:00 we picked up the first mahi, then from 8-11 it was game-on. As soon as the spread went back out we'd hook up. The hot bait for us was any natural 7" squid chain or spreader with any blue/white or pink/blue islander type trailer pulled back about 40-60 feet. The bite shut down just before 11:00.

Rich,

Great working with you out there buddy. Doesn't get any better. Flat calm seas and big tuna.

I left my natural squid chain at home and had my pink one that did work. Found this in the bellies....which explains why the squid chains worked...match the hatch.
