I wish I caught as many fish as you when you go out. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif I'll be taking a break when these dog days of summer hit us soon and the water temps hit 80 or better. The tuna will be hard to find then.

Cache-N-Release
Which direction are you guys heading? We'll be on Hang Time, leaving at 0dark-thirty. We'll let you know if we do any good (maybe this time we can keep up with the Yellow boat, instead of watching it fly by).
bobdu11
Erik....I invited the good Captain Fatbeard but he had prior engagements that precluded him from fishing with us again....oh well.....

Don't know exactly where we're heading yet. Gonna get some reports from the guys who left today and make a final call tonight.....Now I have to go to an event that stopped me from fishing today.....Chow time !......Bob

We plan to head maybe south of the fingers, spring chicken area and put our gear in the water and ear to the track.

We will shout at you, what channel?????
Ktrain
we changed our plans, we will be leaving outta rudee
Eva K
We just got back. Nada. Went from Rudee to the Norfolk south wall in the AM, ran into the 30F for a while, back out to 10 miles south of tip and worked our way back up in 100-500F. One knockdown all day. Water was 75.5 from the CLT to the canyon. and crept up to 78-79 by 1PM. Chumlord and several other folks picked a few tuna and dolphin from the fingers to the canyon but I didn't hear anything spectacular. It sounded like folks were schwacking them at the Washington and someplace about 60 miles south of the Norfolk. There was a boat I believe up by the Washington that was hooked up on "something" all day. When I left at 2PM they had been hooked up for almost 7 hours and still had not seen what it was.

What? Thats not good. Time for a brain storm.
RayY
Nada for me too today. Fished the finger out to 30F. Saw bait on the surface
but could not mark anything underneath. Had something boil behind the short
rigger but never took it. Had a school of tuna pop up right in front of us but
no takers. Stuck with the bait waiting for the bite to start but it never happened.
I second what Rich said water at the fingers that was 74-75 deg. in the morning
was 80 deg. at 2:00 when we packed it in.

Wish I could be of more help.

Dang Bo, thats one hell of a run from HH. Let me know how long it took! Hope y'all got in to them! We could hear the guys @ the canyon on the radio sat. Heard one boat fought a fish for 8hrs, don't know if he landed it or not. hard_smiley.gif

Catch 'em up boys! I got blown out on Thursday, had planned to fish with Dave (BillableOurs), Mike (Rockin Robin) and Don (Skinnys Kid). The boys fished yesterday though. I had to travel back to Wilmington on Friday and on to Nashville on Sunday. I guess they are still recovering from a long day, because I talked to Don @ 9:30 last night and they were at the C bouy outside Rudee on the way in. They had an AWESOME day, but I'll let them tell y'all about it once one of them drags their tired hindparts out of bed! fishing4.gif fishing4.gif fishing4.gif fishing4.gif

We started SE of Fingers; trolled over the Washington, to the South Wall of the canyon, back in towards the fingers, and 1 chicken. 180 miles for one tiny dolphin...pretty frustrating. Sounded like some boats did OK, but we definitely weren't one of them.
woody2
It was a long ride doug, but we just couldnt help ourselves. we fished in the 44 fathom wreck area (just south of the canyon). so it was close to 80 miles door to door each way. it took us 4.5 hours to get out there, and 4 back ... the woody too is no speed demon for sure! Water was awesome though and it was a good ride! the only fun part was feeling our way out through horn harbor in the dark at 0300!

great day though ... did good on the tuna and picked up a boat load of mahi's.

eric (peejcj8) has a post out there on a big one he lost yesterday right beside us. i will post pics there too when i get home today.

80 mi each way! yikes.gif Glad you guys got them. I sure would have liked to have been there when you guys got in, its not an everyday occurence to see tuna and mahi come in to HH. Heard of some big fish lost this weekend, get him next time Eric. Congrats guys!! food-smiley-015.gif
