Well looks like you will at least have some spare parts when its all said and done.

You must have soiled yourself when that thing came apart. Any idea what let go?

At least it was the propshaft gear and not the other. The other gear could have fired off into the transom.

You hit something right!!!!!! Insurance should take care of it, I know state farm replaced my dads years ago when he "hit" floating debree. Otherwise it looks like about a $2,000 repair

Gigalot has a point. A mechanical failure is $$ out of your pocket. If you hit something, insurance should cover it. So your story should be you hit something.
