Unbound
Fished out of Odens on Wednesday. 35' Bruno at 15 knots makes for a slow day. Summary of that day, 2 sails released and 15 nice gaffers bailed and boated. All fish caught between the 005 line and 025 in 400 fathoms, backside and below the rockpile. Great day to be on the ocean. Thursday. Entirely different story. Winds SW at 20-30. 24-26' boats turning around in the inlet. Managed to get out thru the inlet and off 16 miles. Sure do miss my Topaz sitting in Hopewell. Scrapped out 3 fair dolphin before the poor soul working the back of the boat (me) made the call and we headed to the dock for mops and Coronas. On another note: My Dad and Brother ran out of Hungars Creek Saturday morning to the Norfolk Canyon. Fished until 1:30 PM with 1 45lb YFT and 1 gaffer dolphin. Pull throttle back to pull in lines, new 300 HP Volvo diesel dies. Finally get it started and it will only idle at 600. Sea tow picks them up sometime late in the evening and they make the high rise @ midnight, replacement Sea Tow has refused pick up so original boat takes them to 36A, they idle on into Hungars Creek making the dock at his house @ 4:30AM Sunday. Not the kind of overnighter you want but ahhhh the pleasures of boating. Gotta love it.
