First trip offshore for the BlueHooker on Saturday 7/07 was a success. With a crew of 4 we headed out of Rudee at 4:30am in a new Proline 28 express for the unknown. We ran eighty miles out before we set the lines just north of the Norfolk Canyon. Within the first hour we landed a 25 lb dolphin. The next few hours, nothing and the crew was looking grim and wondering why we were the only boat around. As we passed the canyon we had two lines go tight but no hookups.
Then it happened, a yft took the hook and was running. We landed him at about 35 lbs. The next three yft's came within the next two hours. The last three were all 50 lbs plus. The last one made a fourth run from the boat with the gaff still embeded deep in front of the dorsal fin. When we got him back to the boat we thankfully had a second gaff and weighed him in at 55 lbs. We are now solidly hooked on the offshore and look to be moving the boat permanetly from Deltaville to probably a marina in Lynnhaven and hope to have many more exciting experiences to share.

Welcome to the Board and Offshore and Norfolk/Virginia Beach. Another possible docking site is Bay Point/Little Creek Marina on Pretty Lake Ave, about 10 minutes run further west from Lynnhaven, but access to the Bay, CBBT and the offshore run. Several of the VBSF guys are there also.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. We will need to find second jobs to start paying for any future trips.
