I was wondering if anyone knows where to get a fresh supplu of chum, pretty much anything will do, even cleaned fish from charters or anything like that.
I don't need alot because I fish from a kayak, but I'm having a hard time getting shark. I got one 3 foot hammerhead a mile outside rudee inlet this afternoon but I'm looking for more info on where to go and how to find chum. thanks

Ryan

also if anyone is ever looking for someone to ride along I would gladly take up a seat in a boat and share expenses.

Go to any of the bait shops on the board, they sell a variety size of buckets or bricks of menhaden chum. I would ride down to Sandbridge pier and paddle out from there to the south and set up shop. You will catch a variety of sharks possible a Cobe or even a King. Last 4 times I've fished this area targeting Kings and Cobia I could not keep the Blacktips and other variety of sharks off. Some decent size sharks as well. The Blacktips are not so bad on the grill either.

hey ryan ... why do i have the image of a guy new here from colorodo, in a kayak getting drug around by a shark! sport-smiley-027.gif biggrin.gif

just teasing dude ... like fin stoked said, most of us use pre ground frozen chum. bait shops sell it, it usually in a mesh bag. suspend a frozen block of that stuff under you and keep your toes out of the water!

be safe out there. there have been massive sharks caught right off sandbridge!

Thursday morning I flew a first light search just off shore from Surf City NC down near Wilmington. For the first hour we saw nearly 100 sharks working a couple of bait balls about a mile out over a 4 mile stretch parralleling the the beach. Some of had to be 7 feet long. I can't imagine its much different off of Virginia Beach.

YOUR A BRAVER MAN THAN ME TO SHARK FISH WITH A CHUM SLICK FROM A KAYAK, Good Luck but I'd line that Hull with kevlar if I were you.. yikes.gif
Mega Bite
Your the Chum in a Kayak! Lol

Dude get a small whaler or Carolina skiff. If you end up with a 8 foot bull shark it might be a problem.
