Left the Owls Creek ramp about 8 Am,had to break through thin ice going out.Jason came along today,we ran South about 12 Miles then we noticed that all the birds were headed north so we turned around and went a little further out.We found the birds and started out with a tripel on the daisy chain. We caught fish in the 36 to 42 inch rainge for most of the day.I finally got my papers on a Striper today,it went 44 1/2 inches,it was heavy and FAT..All 3 Citations on the Megabite this year were on a Spoon on the Bottom .These fish have really fattened up since last month, and they pull twice as hard also.

42.8 was the warmest I saw yesterday,It should warmup about 10 degrees a month until Summertime. Those dogwoods are starting to get small buds on them, but dont mix them up with those Bradford Pears they flower up before the dogwood.Soon we will be able to fish for BlackDrum and Grey Trout and oh yea Flounder.

QUOTE (GIGOLOT @ Feb 27 2005, 10:59 AM)
I was just checking the fishing reports outta ruddee, and saw one of the charters That I am almost positive that was fishing the same school we were on. Someone do the math for me, but a 6 pack charter has six anglers onboard, I think im counting 13 fish in this picture.
ruddee picturethe captain and mate also count so they could have kept 16 fish

Pretty work guys!!! That's about the best report I've heard from yesterdays fishing.
The Striped Bass regs were changed in Jan. to reflect on people that were making multiple trips in one day. The Capt and mate can still keep a limit on a trip but they can only do it 1 time per day. As slow as the bite has been I doubt there were charters that had more than one trip yesterday.
Here's the wording they added to the regs..."The proposed amendment states that it shall be unlawful for any person fishing recreationally to land and retain any striped bass in excess of the possession limit applicable for the area and season being fished, within the 24-hour period of 12:00 a.m. through 11:59 p.m. Striped bass taken in excess of the possession limit shall be returned to the water immediately. (The current regulation states that it shall be unlawful for any person fishing recreationally to possess striped bass in excess of the possession limit applicable for the area and season being fished. Striped bass taken in excess of the possession limit shall be returned to the water immediately.) "

Well congrats to everyone who caught fish! I was with a friend and we were out there all day. All we got was one knockdown on a stretch 30. We tried everywhere, sandbridge, the ocean front and cape henry. We were pulling 2 stretches and 2 mojos. But you couldn't beat the weather!

Well once again I followed the lead and came up short. Went out yesterday to try and find the same batch of fish. Searched high and low, ended up 15 miles south about 9 miles out when the weather started to turn and decided to come in. Marked fish in several spots but no takers. Warmest water I found was 41.7 Oh well I forgot my camera anyways.

FYI, A CHARTER BOAT PERMIT (6 PACK) ALLOWS 6 PEOPLE TO CATCH 12 FISH. NO PROVISIONS FOR THE MATE OR ANGLER TO POSSESS ANY ASSUMING THAT THERE ARE 8 PEOPLE ON THE BOAT INCLUDING THE MATE & CAPTAIN . ANY INDIVIDUAL FISHING LISCENCE WOULD ALLOW ADDITIONAL PERSONS TO TO KEEP UP TO 2 FISH APIECE WITH NO MORE THAN 8 PEOPLE ON AN UNINSPECTED VESSEL TO INCLUDE THE MATE & CAPTAIN.
A RECREATIONAL LISCENCE WOULD ALLOW AS MANY PEOPLE AS THERE ARE ON THE BOAT TO KEEP 2 FISH APIECE.
A CHARTER BOAT WITH A 6 PACK LISCENSE CAN ONLY CARRY EIGHT PEOPLE ON THE BOAT DURING A CHARTER INCLUDING THE MATE & CAPTAIN.

The Mate and Captain can bring in 2 fish each once a day,new rule this year to prevent the mate and Captain from doing it twice a day when they run half day trips.
