Went out today to give our shot at Spade fishing. Son and I head out about 9:30am to the bridge between the 2nd and 3rd island. Using the advice we learned here on VBSF Grant boated his first ever spade. He was SO EXCITED he couldn't stop jumping up and down for 10 minutes. We ended up catching our limit and throwing back the extras.

There was a thunderstorm off of Lynnhaven but thankfully it never came over us. Looked like it just stayed on shore. Once stormed cleared we fished alittle more and headed in . What a great day of fishing! Thanks to everyone again for the advice given on this board.

Nice going on the Spades. Sounds like a great time! Just wondering how you caught the Spades. Did you see them then chum for them?

Double time, we never sighted them, just threw a line w/ a #1 red hook and a bobber about 7' above the hook, added a small bit of clam and dropped it between the pilings. When the current was running we added some split shots about a foot above the hook to get the bait down.

Bobby, Thanks for the info. It sounds as if there are alot of Spadefish around the CBBT right now.
