has anyone been targeting sharks or catching any? where is a good place to go thats not too far offshore (1-2 miles)

You may have to be further offshore than that...City doesn't like sharking to close to the tourists. Check the regs first. There are some wrecks around the CLT that could very well hold some sharks, several state records have been landed out there.

yes I do all my fishing from a kayak, its my only mode of getting on the water.
