Thanks for the support Bob, but man did we have a struggle. It was not our day. We spent half our time in the huge weedlines trying bail some dolphin, nbut could not find them. These guys reporting the 20-30 bailers were better than us. All we did was feed chum to baitfish.
We got our hit first hit at 12:30 (5 hours with nothing puts me in a funk for sure) we got up a decent wahoo on the planer and pulled him off at the back. When we were resetting the spread 5 min later, another one hit a blue marlin rigged- horse ballyhoo and cut that - behind a 12/0 hook. Not exactly the ideal meat rig. About 3:00 another hit on the same marlin bait. This one also missed, but I jigged and jigged with my hand until I felt him pick it up again. I jerked it out of his mouth and jigged one more time - then hooked him by hand. That's how close we were to being skunked! We did what I think Neal did -ran a bunch of marlin rigs -but no marlin. I think we are going to rethink that spread next week.
Boy was it hot! I have been tired all day getting over it. Hard trip yesterday for me.

You're right. It was hot as #$$%^. Good job on the jigging to save the day!

Bandit, were on a good looking sportfisherman named "Bandit" -the boat said it was home-ported in Richmond, VA - on Sat?
We were in a big weed mat with "Bandit"along with "Good Grief", trying (unsuccesfully I might add) to bail up some dolphin. I wondered if that was you when I saw the cool citation posts on the site.

That was us Kent. Thanks for the compliment. We were in a 40' Cabo. I have a boat partner and we both live in Richmond. The boat stays in Irvington most of the time at my river house. We move the boat down to Rudee to Rockfish after the Bay season and this year we moved down in mid July to enjoy the offshore season for a month. Will probably be back in early fall if we can find the time.

What boat were you in? I know I've seen Water Dog before. We did pretty well in the weedline to start and then it slowed. I guess you saw where we were lucky with the White. We missed two or three Whites the last two weeks, so we were thrilled to say the least. Rather be lucky than good anytime! Rest of the day was slow, but other than hot...very calm and beautiful!

Good luck to you guys,

Oops, just saw that you are on a 38' Rampage. Now I remember. You guys came in at the end of our bailers. Beautiful boat! Looked like a new one. Is it the Tred Barta addition? Saw one close up in Miami at the show. Very nice!

That was us on the Rampage 38--its 2 years old - not a Barta edition (but they call me every month wanting me to trade up to the 41). I was trying not to crowd in on you and mess-up your bailing in the weeds, as I could see you were already set-up pretty good.
A close friend of mine has a 40 Cabo I fish on occasionaly, out of Pirates Cove. You have a very fine boat there. Where are you at in Rudee? We are in Fisherman's wharf -"B' dock - stop by if you see us and have a beer with us anytime. We drink quite a bit that.

Thanks for the offer Kent. We're in a friend's slip at Harbor Pointe (condos across from you) right now. We'll keep in touch. We tend to drink a few beers ourselves. You guys didn't crowd us at all. We got there maybe an hour earlier and had about 15-20 before it slopwed for us. food-smiley-004.gif
