Wish I had a good story to tell and help get you guys on fish...we just had a nice boat ride today. We started as planned fishing East of the Cigar around the 230 line and trolled from 30 Fathoms all the way to the deep, finding the temp breaks, a long patchy weedline, sulphur slicks, and pretty water, but not even a knock-down. We stayed with our gameplan of running strictly a Marlin Spread, so we probably missed some chances on the Wahoo that some other boats were finding. A slow day for most out there today, but some success as well. We heard of a few Blue Marlin caught and watched a nice WM tail dance behid the boat next to us at the Cigar. MAny of the Marlin bites were reports in 30-40 fathoms! That's very strange. The area right over the Cigar marked lots of bait and fish, but didn't do us any good.
Made the ride in and skirted the severe Wx heading East over the Beach without incident. God gave us a beautiful day, a safe trip, and good friends on board, even without fish it was a blessing...but we'll take fish anytime we can also! Thank-you.
Tight lines.
Dave
p.s. Don's brother John should have some great photos of Pilot Whales we were running with for awhile.

Bummer Dave.
We saw lots of pilot whales yesterday also. They did not point to the fish it seems.

Well, Dave, like I say, sometimes slow days make us appreciate the good ones. At least you got out there - the Volunteer made it all the way to York Spit yesterday, which is a triumph considering everything I've had going on. I'm thinking about re-naming it to "Apollo 13" in view of all the difficulties we've had to overcome!

Dave,
We had about the same result Sat., we stopped st a weedline before we got to the weather buoy, got one bailer, left and headed to the weather buoy, heard that there were more boats than fish south so we headed northeast for about an hour, then pulled lines and went to the 22 finger and trolled up in into wally world and got nothing. Had a nice ride back home.

Tough day Dave, but it sure happens. We got by on the skin of our teeth to catch 1 fish. You are right running that marlin spread will sure penalize the fish box.August is a skinny month for meat. You'll get 'em next time.
Sure glad you came through the WX ok. I was thinking about you guys about 3:00pm, as we had about a level three cell that came through with some hail.

Great, we'll be finding Get Reel resin golf balls all over the place from "Tiger" Malkowski. Stick to fishing Don, where a hook is a good thing, and a slice gets you a nice filet for dinner.
Tight lines...(Promise to make you work hard next trip!)

Yeah Sunday was terrible. Our only knockdown was at the hot dog on the way back in. Whatever it was it was a nice fish. It totally messed up the spread. Oh well. Better luck next time.

Dave,
Sorry about the report, My brother was comming in last Friday for some more fishing and, I threw out my back at lunch, and had to CX the whole trip. (Yeah, I come from a family with a long line of bad spines and disks, and I fly for living, not a great combination.) Any way I'm finally mobile today. Again sorry it did'nt turn out better for you all.
