Fred, this sword was caught on the break at 300 fathoms on the 200 line.

Mike, you are a fishing machine...great report...bummer on the rod / reel...I've often worried about a fish slamming a line when one is moving rods about.....

We tried to go overnighting Friday but that wind kicked up in the late afternoon. We managed to get to the Light Tower and decided to head back and wait for the wind to die out. We left Taylors Landing around 1 am and got to the trolling grounds around daybreak. Caught a skippy and had a hoo cut off.
We passed by you as you were pulling away from that weed line, probably around 2 or 3 o'clock. Good work on the Sword & Whitey. Did you come across that big weed mat near the weather buoy. I believe we were about 5 miles south in 50 0fathoms. There were a lot of boats trolling the weedline and I saw no one hooking up. We managed to bail 20 mahis, and saw many more, also had a wahoo speed by and rip a leader out of my hand that I was whining up. Damn thing nearly sliced my hand off, next time the bait will be brought in the boat then wound up!!
By the way thanks for the heads up on the squid at the asian market on Great Neck, I got some nice squids.

I have 2 gaffs and a wiremans gaff. I was shopping for a flying gaff but now I have to shop for another tiagra.
Just replace it with a Penn 6/0.
